GUWAHATI, Jan 12: The PLASTINDIA Foundation recently announced PLASTINDIA 2026 at a launch programme here, marking a significant step in its nationwide outreach and deeper engagement with stakeholders in the North-East.
Recognised as one of the world’s leading platforms for the plastics and polymer industry, PLASTINDIA 2026 is expected to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, global exhibitors, startups and technology providers from across the value chain.
The Guwahati launch highlighted the growing importance of the North-East in India’s industrial growth story, particularly in sectors such as infrastructure, packaging, agriculture and sustainable materials.
Organisers said the region aligns closely with the exhibition’s theme, ‘Bharat Next’, which focuses on inclusive, innovation-driven and future-ready industrial development.
PLASTINDIA 2026 is being planned as India’s first zero-waste plastics exhibition, with organisers committing to responsible waste management practices throughout the event.
Measures will include segregation, recycling and reuse of materials, along with audited scientific processes to ensure zero landfill waste, showcasing large-scale implementation of circular economy principles.
As part of its sustainability initiatives, the Foundation will roll out the ‘Swachhta Yatra’, a nationwide awareness campaign that will cover nearly 25 locations.
The campaign will feature a patented ‘Sustainability on Wheels’ mobile unit, demonstrating decentralised waste management, source segregation and recycling through live demonstrations and community engagement programmes.
The exhibition will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 5 to 10, 2026.
It will span more than 22 halls, covering an exhibition area of around 75,000 square metres, and will feature raw materials, machinery, moulds and dies, automation solutions, recycling technologies and finished products catering to diverse industrial applications.
Innovation will be promoted through the ‘Bharat Next Challenge’, a startup initiative being organised in association with the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
The programme will identify startups working in areas such as material innovation, recycling, automation and circular economy solutions, with the top 10 ventures set to receive over ₹2 lakh in prize money along with mentorship and industry exposure.
An exclusive CEO and Industry Leaders’ Meet will also be organised during the event, bringing together senior industry leaders, policymakers and global experts for discussions on investments, technology adoption, sustainability and India’s positioning in the global plastics industry.
Addressing the gathering, Alok Tibrewala, Chairman of the National Executive Council, said PLASTINDIA 2026 represents the transformation of the plastics industry through innovation, responsible manufacturing and sustainability, adding that engaging regions such as the North-East was crucial for building an inclusive and future-focused industry ecosystem.
