GUWAHATI, Nov 14: PhonePe has announced a strategic collaboration with OpenAI to broaden access to ChatGPT for users across its digital ecosystem.
The partnership aims to accelerate consumer adoption of advanced AI in India by integrating ChatGPT’s capabilities into the PhonePe app and the PhonePe for Business platform, along with support from the Indus Appstore.
Through this integration, PhonePe users will be able to explore ChatGPT’s features directly within the company’s platforms, enabling smarter, more intuitive responses to routine needs such as travel planning, shopping assistance and other daily tasks.
The collaboration is positioned to open up new generative AI use cases as adoption rises across the country.
Rahul Chari, Founder, Whole-time Director and Chief Technology Officer, PhonePe, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to delivering digital services at population scale.
“This strategic alliance demonstrates that collaborations between innovative companies in this space can help expand the reach of cutting-edge technology to the broader population. We are excited to partner with OpenAI to begin this journey,” he said.
Oliver Jay, Head of International at OpenAI, described the partnership as a milestone in the effort to make AI more accessible in India.
“India is a global hub for innovation, and PhonePe’s deep understanding of the country’s fabric and its user base make them the ideal partner. This partnership will demonstrate the immense value of consumer AI across India, helping millions of users enhance their daily lives,” he said.
