GUWAHATI, March 29: PhonePe users visiting the UAE now have the convenience of making payments using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) at Mashreq’s NEOPAY terminals, present in various retail stores, dining outlets, and tourist attractions.

Moreover, non-resident Indians (NRIs) with UAE mobile numbers can download the PhonePe app and link their NRE and NRO accounts for hassle-free payments, enhancing transaction ease for the Indian diaspora in the UAE.

This collaboration, facilitated by Mashreq’s partnership with NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), signifies a significant step in integrating UPI as a payment instrument at NEOPAY terminals, providing Indian travelers with familiar and convenient payment options. Ritesh Pai, CEO International Payments, PhonePe, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing PhonePe’s commitment to customer convenience and embracing evolving traveler needs.

Vibhor Mundhada, CEO of NEOPAY at Mashreq, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the launch as a testament to Mashreq’s dedication to innovation and customer-centric solutions. Anubhav Sharma, deputy chief of Partnership Business Development and Marketing at NIPL, emphasized the collaboration’s role in streamlining cross-border payment solutions for Indian travelers to the UAE.
