GUWAHATI, Feb 23: Managing shared expenses in modern households often involves handling payments not just for oneself but also for children, elderly parents, or trusted staff.
While digital payments have simplified financial transactions, many users still face challenges in securely sharing payment access without compromising control.
To address this need, the BHIM Payments App has introduced a new feature called UPI Circle, designed to make authorised UPI transactions safer, more structured and convenient.
The UPI Circle feature allows a primary user to grant controlled payment access to trusted individuals, known as secondary users.
Through this system, the primary account holder can authorise payments directly from their bank account while maintaining clear oversight and setting defined spending limits.
The feature eliminates the risky practice of sharing sensitive information such as UPI PINs, passwords or device access.
Instead, it ensures that all transactions remain transparent, traceable and secure, with full visibility available to the primary user at all times.
UPI Circle is expected to be particularly useful for households managing routine expenses, enabling parents to monitor children’s spending, caregivers to handle daily purchases for elderly family members, and employers to authorise limited transactions for trusted staff — all without compromising security.
By combining convenience with built-in safeguards, the feature aims to make digital payments more practical for shared usage while strengthening trust, accountability and financial control for users.
