Mumbai, Aug 12 (PTI) As “Shershaah” clocked three years of its release on Monday, Sidharth Malhotra said playing Captain Vikram Batra, a soldier, who lost his life during the Kargil war, was one of the most “rewarding experiences” of his life.
Directed by Vishnuvardhan, the film revolved around the life and martyrdom of Batra, who was only 24 when he died. Batra was honoured with a posthumous Param Vir Chakra, the highest Indian military decoration, for his bravery.
The film, also starring Kiara Advani, went on to be a massive success and was also appreciated for its melodious songs.
“Three years since ‘Shershaah’! Portraying Captain Vikram Batra was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, bringing to life the story of a legendary hero honored with the Special Jury Award at the 69th National Film Awards,” Malhotra tweeted.
The 39-year-old actor then recalled meeting the family of the brave soldier and described the entire journey as “unforgettable”, “Meeting his incredible family made the journey unforgettable. Here’s to celebrating the legacy of a real hero and the memories we created. #3YearsOfShershaah,” the post further read.
