New Delhi, April 16: A vessel carrying approximately 20 heavily decayed bodies was discovered off Brazil’s northeastern coast, according to reports on Tuesday.
The boat was located near Braganca, to the northeast of Para, on April 13, leading to the initiation of two investigations, CNN reported.

The Brazilian Federal Public Ministry has stated that due to the severe decomposition of the remains, it is currently uncertain as to the exact number of individuals who died on the boat.
The Attorney General’s office has noted conflicting reports, suggesting that there could be up to 20 bodies onboard. As a result, both criminal and civil investigations have been launched to probe the incident.
Authorities suspect that the deceased are not Brazilians but might have come from the Caribbean region. Despite this disturbing find, local authorities have not received any recent reports of missing Brazilians, further reports added.
