Islamabad, April 15: Relentless rains continue to batter multiple provinces in Pakistan, leading to an increase in the death toll. Four more lives were lost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and an ‘urban flood emergency’ has been declared in Quetta, Balochistan.
Reports indicate that the recent downpour and accompanying thunderstorms have claimed a total of 39 lives, with 12 fatalities occurring in a single day. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has activated the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to lead relief efforts across the country.
Addressing a meeting on power projects, he expressed his condolences for the loss of lives. He also urged the NDMA and provincial authorities to collaborate to ensure relief supplies reach those in need. Tragic losses continue in districts like Lower Dir, where four children are among the victims.
