Heathrow, April 6: Two passenger planes, one from Virgin Atlantic and another from British Airways, clipped wings on the runway at Heathrow Airport. The incident took place while the Virgin Atlantic plane, which had just landed, was being towed to a different location by a separate company. At the time, the plane was empty.
The wing of the Virgin plane overlapped with the wing of a stationary British Airways aircraft. Emergency services reached the scene promptly. Both airlines have initiated investigations into the incident and the planes are currently undergoing maintenance checks.
The passengers of the British Airways flight have been transferred to another plane. Despite the incident, airport services have not been disrupted. A spokesperson from Virgin Atlantic reiterated that the safety of their customers and crew is their top priority.
A Heathrow spokesperson confirmed that there are no reports of passenger injuries and they don’t anticipate any ongoing impact on airport operations.
