NEW DELHI, Oct 3: The eighth North-East Students’ Festival (NESt.) began at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium here on Friday, bringing together thousands of students, policymakers and artists for a two-day celebration of culture, youth empowerment and sustainability.
Organised by voluntary organisation My Home India, the two-day festival, whose theme this year is “From Culture to Climate: The Youth Mandate”, features sessions on entrepreneurship, sustainability and rainwater harvesting, alongside cultural performances from all eight North-Eastern states, as well as Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
Expected to be attended by 25,000 students, the festival is positioned as both a “celebration of heritage and a platform for dialogue on future challenges”.

“NESt. Fest 2025 is a proud tribute to Janajatiya Gaurav Varsh, as envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Our cultural heritage is the strength of our unity, and I believe our youth will lead India into a new era of inclusive and sustainable growth.
“Through NESt. Fest, we celebrate our roots, empower our youth and take steps together towards a Viksit Bharat,” Sunil Deodhar, founder of My Home India, said in a statement.
It also boasts a strong musical lineup, with performances by renowned artists including Angelia N Marwein, Rito Riba, Dipakshi Kalita, Ruisang Pakhrin, Lilac & Jacks, Tete Sapam and KL Pamei. The event will also pay tribute to the late singer Zubeen Garg.
Another key highlight is a session titled “Arunodaya”, which will focus on sustainable development in the North-East and tribal regions, with student-led ideas and innovations being showcased.
