Bengaluru, April 12: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has captured two fugitives associated with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case near Kolkata. The explosion, which took place on March 1 at a cafe in Bengaluru, resulted in injuries to nine individuals.
An NIA spokesperson revealed that the absconders, Abdul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, were located at their hideout near Kolkata and were apprehended by the NIA team.
In a joint operation with the NIA, the West Bengal Police arrested the accused from Purba Medinipur district, where they had been residing in a hotel in Digha under false identities. The suspects, who hail from Thirthahalli in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, were identified as Taha, an IT engineer, and Shazib, suspected to be a significant figure in the Shivamogga Islamic State (IS) module.
The NIA, in collaboration with central and state intelligence agencies, tracked the suspects who had been in hiding in West Bengal for several days. After analyzing CCTV footage and releasing their photographs, the NIA announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for each of them.
