New Delhi, Oct 31: Several opposition Members of Parliament (MPs), including Shashi Tharoor of Congress, Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena (UBT), and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, have reported receiving notifications from Apple about ‘state-sponsored attackers attempting remote compromise’ of their phones.
It has been reported that three individuals from the office of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi received similar warnings. Government sources have acknowledged the situation and stated that iPhone threat detection can sometimes be ‘imperfect.’
According to Apple, such notifications are generated when their systems detect activity indicative of a state-sponsored attack. The company has yet to respond to the situation. Earlier today, several MPs shared screenshots of the warnings they received.
Additional figures, including Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, Aam Aadmi Party’s Raghav Chadha, CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, and Pawan Khera of Congress, have also claimed to have received such hacking warnings.
