GUWAHATI, March 3: The Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj has set three Guinness World Records, marking significant achievements in cleanliness, environmental conservation, and cultural heritage. One of the records was set for the most people sweeping the floor at multiple venues, with 19,287 participants actively taking part in a massive cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative underscored the commitment to maintaining public hygiene and promoting cleanliness at one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.

The second record was achieved for the largest river clean-up drive across multiple locations, with 329 volunteers working to clean the sacred rivers of Prayagraj as part of the *Namami Gange Mission. This effort highlighted the importance of water conservation, waste management, and sustainable practices.

The third record was set for the most contributions to a handprint painting within eight hours, with 10,102 participants coming together to create an artwork depicting the mythological event of Samudra Manthan. The painting symbolised unity, devotion, and spiritual harmony, showcasing the Maha Kumbh Mela’s rich cultural and religious heritage.

Reflecting on these achievements, world record strategist Nischal Barot emphasized that these records were not just milestones but a source of inspiration for millions. He noted that the overwhelming public participation and collective effort demonstrated the strong commitment of the people of Uttar Pradesh to cleanliness, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation.

The official certificates were handed over during a ceremonial event, reaffirming Prayagraj’s prominence in global record-setting initiatives. Under the leadership of Meladhikari Vijay Kiran Anand, the Prayagraj Mela Authority has set a benchmark in large-scale event management, aligning with the objectives of Swachh Bharat and sustainable development.
