It may be mentioned that the notification of 1951 has clearly demarcated the boundaries during the creation of the district and creation of the then Autonomous State of Meghalaya and in the North East re-organisation of 1971.

In a press conference convened at ASDC central committee office here on Monday, the publicity secretary, Daniel Teron said a joint delegation comprising of ASDC, KSA and KNCA met Union minister for Shipping Port and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal and MP Horensing Bey and apprised them of the border problems arising out of Mukroh incident, which has claimed six lives including a home guard Bidyasing Lekthe of Assam.

Teron said the joint delegation have demanded to the Central Government that all encroachers along the inter-state boundary either with Meghalaya or Nagaland  should be evicted, all structures and establishments constructed either by the public or by Governments  inside Karbi Anglong or West Karbi Anglong should be demolished in presence of Central Government authority.

Asking for a joint survey by Assam-Meghalaya and Assam-Nagaland in presence of Survey of India officials, they demanded that boundary pillars be erected again as the previous ones were damaged by encroachers.

It also demanded for protection of border areas the number of BoPs should be increased along with police personnel, by not applying the give and take policy and to dismantle the BoP constructed by Meghalaya at Am-ih in 1979 and to be shifted to Saisema, which is the actual boundary.

Teron has named a member of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, Aibor Shadap as involved in the November 22 clash. “An FIR should be filed against him by Karbi Anglong authorities,” Teron said.

The publicity secretary said the forest camp at Mokroh which was burned down by the Khasis from Meghalaya should be constructed and development activities carried out by Meghalaya Government inside Karbi Anglong should be stopped.
