AGARTALA, April 26: In a significant crackdown on human trafficking, security forces in Tripura have arrested five suspected traffickers in a coordinated operation on the wee hours of Saturday.
Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Agartala, informed that the arrests were made jointly by the GRP, personnel from the 81 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), and police teams from Sonamura and Jatrapur Police Stations under Sepahijala District.
“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was carried out, leading to the apprehension of five individuals who had been absconding for a considerable period in connection with two human trafficking cases,” Das said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jalil Mia (41), Md. Hasan (31), Monir Hossain (37), Shri Jasimuddin (36), and Alamgir Hossain (37) — all residents of Kathalia and Birampur areas under the Jatrapur Police Station jurisdiction in Sepahijala District.
Police sources revealed that the operation was meticulously planned to track down the absconders. Authorities are continuing their investigation to unearth the broader network involved in trafficking activities.
