DIMAPUR, May 1 (NNN): To keep abreast of the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks, “Zailad Region of NSCN-IM and Jadonang Brigade, Naga Army”, organised an awareness programme at Aben, Tousem sub-division, Tamenglong, Manipur, on April 26, according to NSCN-IM in a press statement.
The statement said that it was attended by over 300 delegates comprising village chairmen and secretaries, youth leaders, women leaders and church leaders. “Attending the meeting were also Zeme leaders from NC Hills of Assam, Rongmei leaders from Cachar area of Assam and Rongmei leaders from Jiribam district of Manipur,” said the NSCN-IM statement.
The statement then said that the meeting took “pride of the historical fact of the Naga political movement started in Tamenglong district by Haipou Jadonang and Heipei Rani Gaidinliu and the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks leading to the signing of the historic Framework Agreement”.
According to the NSCN-IM statement, the recent visit of the government of India’s interlocutor A K Mishra to Dimapur and even “touching NSCN’s CHQ/Hebron was also discussed for proper understanding”.
After day-long deliberation, the meeting concluded with declarations. One of the declarations was to support the ongoing “Indo-Naga peace talks between the NSCN and the government of India”. Another declaration was to extend the “fullest support to the Collective Leadership of NSCN and the Talk Team under NSCN general secretary and chief negotiator Th Muivah”. The third declaration was to appeal to both NSCN and government of India to expedite the Indo-Naga peace process based on Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015, inclusive of Naga national flag and Naga constitution (Yehzabo). The fourth declaration was that the solution should be inclusive, honourable and acceptable to the Naga people based on the uniqueness of the Naga history.
At the end of the meeting, Zailad Region Care-taker CAO, DG Robert, impressed upon the attending delegates not to be misled by “misguided propaganda” but to stand firm behind Framework Agreement.
