IMPHAL, March 31 (NNN): International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) based in Manipur has urged the Manipur government to lodge a suo-moto case against the functionaries of the Nagaland based Southern Angami Peoples’ Organisation (SAPO). SAPO has been imposing an indefinite bandh in its jurisdiction since March 21 affecting the normal vehicular movement along NH-2, the lifeline of Manipur.

Addressing a press conference, IPSA vice-president Khuraijam Athouba alleged that the SAPO sponsored indefinite bandh is illegal, illogical and inhuman.

Athouba demanded that the Manipur government must lodge a suo-moto case against the functionaries of the SAPO while reiterating that SAPO’s demands are illogical.

“There is no logic for imposing the bandh as the security post is being constructed by the government of Manipur in its own territory,” Athouba said.

IPSA leaders taking part in the press conference expressed solidarity to the counter-bandh calls by bodies of Manipuris living in Assam against SAPO’s bandh.

“The steps being taken up by AMYA and AAMSO are worth appreciating. We acknowledge the concern of the Manipuris living outside the state,” Athouba said.
