IMPHAL, Oct 24: Police in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Sunday arrested a person allegedly involved in making Aadhaar cards for illegal migrants.
The arrested person was identified as Hafiz Salahdur from Thoubal district, police said.
The police accused him of helping Bangladesh nationals in procuring residential certificates as proof to be the state’s native and obtained an Aadhaar card.
The police alleged that he recently helped a Bangladeshi national identified as Md Ramjan Ali (35) who entered into the state illegally in procuring residential certificate and in making Aadhaar card by cheating the government authorities.
According to the police, the arrest of the local man helping the illegal migrants came at a time when the police have been conducting special drives to detect illegal migrants and violators of ILP across Manipur. (NNN)
