Imphal, April 17: Manipur’s Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, has emphasized the importance of maintaining the state’s territorial integrity and safeguarding the rights of its indigenous population during peace talks between communities.
This statement was issued at the ‘Sankalp Patra’ launch at the BJP office in Imphal. Singh underscored the BJP’s dedication to preserving Manipur’s unity, a stance recently reiterated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Singh expressed apprehension about the possible disruption of the state’s demographic composition by illegal immigrants. He stated that the BJP manifesto mirrors Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling promises.
Singh pointed to the removal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from 19 police station jurisdictions in Manipur as evidence of Modi’s concern for the younger generation and society.
Singh also appealed for public backing for the BJP’s Inner Manipur candidate, Basantakumar Singh, who sits on the state government’s cabinet subcommittee tasked with identifying illegal immigrants.
