Imphal, Jan 28: In the past 24 hours, three individuals have lost their lives in separate incidents involving gunfire and accidents in Manipur, according to Sunday’s reports.
The first incident involved the discovery of a 40-year-old man’s body, identified as Wareppam Kiran, under the rubble of a collapsed bunker during a gunfire exchange on Saturday.
Insurgents allegedly initiated the shooting from Phuroi hills’ elevated area in the Churachandpur district, adjacent to Ningthoukhong village in the Bishnupur district, as per sources.
A gunfight reportedly broke out between militants and Village Volunteers in Satang Khul, located between Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts, in another incident.
This clash resulted in the death of Timminlun Khongsai, a Kangpokpi district resident. Moreover, an elderly woman named Lairenlakpam Bimola reportedly died in a road accident at Tejpur Waiton Lamkhai under the Imphal East district on the same day.
