Marijuana weighing 1024 kgs worth Rs 4 crore seized in Tripura

Agartala, Feb 24: In a significant achievement, Assam Rifles seized Marijuana valued at over Rs 4 crores in Tripura, as informed in a statement on Saturday.

The statement revealed that the operation took place at a warehouse and the surrounding forest area of Bejoynagar at Sidhi Mohanpur in the West Tripura district on Friday (February 23).

During the raid, Assam Rifles troopers confiscated 1024 kilograms of marijuana, valued at Rs 4.09 crores, concealed in the warehouse. Officials reported having specific information about the presence of illegal marijuana stashes in the warehouse.

This led to a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and the Customs Department of Agartala representatives on Friday. The statement outlined that the team initiated the operation by cordoning off the area and conducting an extensive search.

The hidden marijuana stash was subsequently discovered and seized. The confiscated marijuana was later transferred to the Customs Department of Agartala.

The statement further elaborated that the Assam Rifles has been consistently working against illegal narcotics and drug smuggling in the state, aiming to fortify Tripura’s future.
