IMPHAL, Sept 29: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)
has agreed to extend the deadline for completion of
capturing of biographic and biometric details of illegal
migrants in the state of Manipur by six months
i.e upto March 31, 2024, an official statement said
recently.
The process of capturing had been initiated and the
initial timeline for completion of the exercise is
September 30, 2023, the statement also said.
It may be mentioned that the state government of
Manipur and the Manipur legislators currently in New
Delhi had requested the MHA to extend the deadline so
that capturing of the data of all illegal migrants from
Myanmar can be ensured, in view of difficulties in the
present situation.
Considering the requirement of more time to complete
the exercise, the Ministry has agreed to extend the
deadline and also instructed the state government of
Manipur to take up appropriate necessary action to
complete the exercise within the revised time period i.e
by March 31, 2024, the statement added.
