The police suspected miscreants set afire the paddy stack in the wee hours of Wednesday as the stacks found were still burning when they rushed to the spot.

After registering a case, the police have started an investigation to nab the miscreants, police said.

This was not the first time in which piled up paddy crops for threshing were being destroyed by burning.

In the recent years, there were several instances of miscreants destroying paddy crops piled up in the field for threshing.
