KOHIMA, Jan 27 (NNN): Consequent upon the announcement of the schedule for the general election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly – 2023 by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the mandate for curbing use of money-power and various forms of inducements in elections have been vested with several enforcement agencies both central and state.
According to the media cell of the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland, the Income Tax, Government of India, for the purpose of effective monitoring of election expenditures of the candidates and for curbing the use of black money during the election process, have formed the following Surveillance Teams, Air Intelligence Units (AIU), Rail Intelligence Unit (RUI) and 24×7 Control Room.
The CEO office then said that the airport in Nagaland, the railway station, hotels, farm houses, hawala agents, financial brokers, cash couriers, pawn brokers and suspicious agencies/ persons likely to be used for movement of unaccounted cash during election process will be kept under close surveillance by the Income Tax department.
It further said that people can register complaints on the aforementioned mentioned electoral malpractices at the control room at Dimapur and Kohima.
