Nap observes Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Divas

GUWAHATI, June 21: Members of New Art Players (NAP) – a leading
socio-cultural organisation of the state, observed Kalaguru Bishnu
Prasad Rabha Divas on June 20 at its own auditorium in a befitting way.
On behalf of the members of NAP its President Ajoy Kumar Datta paid
homage to Late Rabha by lighting lamp and floral tribute. While
welcoming the gathering, the club president Dutta also recalled his past
association with Bishnu Rabha and shared a few interesting political
incidences. Senior member of NAP Niroda Chakraborty also
highlighted contributions of this legendary figure in the fields of music,
dance, painting, literature as well as political activism. Madhurima Sen
Barua, Kuntal Moni Sarma Bardoloi, Anupam Choudhury and Atul Datta
attended the function as distinguished guests and they were felicitated
by Club President and senior members.
The cultural evening started with a chorus presented by members
of NAP. Besides club members, many established and upcoming singers
including Rubul Kalita, Spandan Chakraborty, Samima Khatun, Sunayana
Goswami, Iva Choudhury, Manjurima Saikia, Shivangi Chakraborty,
Tanistha Sarma Bardoloi and Sangita Bora presented songs written and
composed by Bishnu Rabha. The dance performance of Nikita Deka and
Nibedana Kotoky, recitation by Kritanjali Datta and guitar recital of
Parikshit Barua were highly appreciated by the audience. The highlight
of the evening was accordion recital by renowned music composer and
director Anupam Choudhury and he kept the audience spellbound.
