New chief secretary of Manipur appointed

IMPHAL, July 16: Senior IAS officer Puneet Kumar Goel was appointed the new chief secretary of Manipur, according to a notification.

Goel, a 1991-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, will replace Prashant Kumar Singh, who has been appointed the secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Department of Personnel and Training for inter cadre deputation of Puneet Kumar Goel from AGMUT to Manipur cadre, on curtailment of central deputation tenure, for a period up to 31.08.2025 i.e. till the date of his superannuation,” said the notification dated July 15.

Singh, an IAS officer of the 1993 batch, had taken charge as the chief secretary of the restive state in January 2025. (PTI)
