DIMAPUR, April 28: The statewide Jai Bharat Satyagraha programme under the aegis of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) concluded at Congress Bhavan in Kohima on Friday.
The programme was organised by the Congress to protest against what it called “anti-democracy” policies of the Modi government, disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha and demand a probe into the allegations of fraud and stock manipulation against the Adani Group by a Joint Parliamentary Committee, led by the Supreme Court or monitored by the Chief Justice of India.
Addressing the programme, former NPCC president K Therie said freedom of expression in the country is being curtailed. “The entire government machinery is working to save Adani,” Therie alleged.
Saying that democracy in the country has collapsed, he added fascism and authoritative acts of the BJP government should be condemned by all.
“Satyagraha is needed to save democracy because the government sitting at the Centre is bent on weakening democracy,” he added.
