IMPHAL, April 28 (NNN): A powerful storm wreaked havoc in various parts of Manipur on Tuesday night, uprooting several houses, trees and electric posts in both the hills and the valley districts. The strong wind blew away sheets serving as roofs of several houses and institutions, and uprooted trees and electric poles causing power outages for hours. The power supply to almost all parts of the state was affected and it was restored only by the afternoon, official reports said. However, there were no reports of human casualties in the storm.

Major damages were, however, reported mainly from Bishnupur, Imphal West and Noney districts of the state.

The powerful storm also damaged hundreds of houses and other structures in Imphal West and its neighbouring Bishnupur district after the roofs were blown away.
