R Lalramnghaka sworn in as new chairman of MPSC

GUWAHATI, May 20: In a ceremony held at the Raj Bhawan, retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer R Lalramnghaka was sworn in as the new chairman of the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) on Monday (May 20) afternoon.

The oath-taking proceedings began with Mizoram chief secretary Dr Renu Sharma reading the warrant of appointment issued by the governor.

Mizoram governor Hari Babu Kambhampati administered the oath of office to Lalramnghaka.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials of the Mizoram government, including chief minister Lalduhoma, speaker Lalbiakzama, home minister K Sapdanga, and former chief minister Zoramthanga.

R Lalramnghaka holds a BSc in agriculture and joined the Mizoram Civil Service (MCS) in 1991.

He was promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the AGMUT cadre in 2009.

Throughout his career, Lalramnghaka has held numerous key positions in the Mizoram government, including director of SIRD, deputy commissioner of Kolasib district, joint secretary of LR&S/LAD, director of LR&S, director of FCS&CA, and additional secretary of LR&S.

He also served as the secretary of various Mizoram government departments, including health and family welfare, commerce and industries, and personnel and administrative reforms, as well as deputy commissioner of Aizawl.

Before his appointment as chairman of MPSC, Lalramnghaka served as secretary of the general administration department (GAD) and public works department.
