Bum La Pass, where the visit took place, serves as a border pass between China’s Tsona County in Tibet and India’s Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh. The minister arrived in Tezpur for a two-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Singh paid tribute to fallen soldiers at Tawang War Memorial and acknowledged the soldiers’ efforts in guarding the borders. During his address at the wreath-laying ceremony, he expressed the country’s pride in the troops.

Singh spent the day engaging with security personnel in the strategically important Tawang sector and performed Shashtra Puja. He also visited the 4 Corps Headquarters in Tezpur, reviewing the operational readiness of the formation deployed in the easternmost parts of the country.
