DIMAPUR, Sept 8: On the issue of illegal immigration in Nagaland, the Rising People’s Party (RPP) said today that the need of the hour is to form a ‘Survival Nagaland movement 2’.

The RPP then said that, while stakeholders, especially the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) over the decades have made many actionable moves to curb the influx, it is clear that the society at large needs to come together – the civil society organisations,  tribal bodies, youth organisations, student organisations and the political parties.

The RPP then said, “Taking inspiration from the ‘Survival Nagaland’ campaign launched by the AKM in 2008, it is imperative that a pan-Nagaland youth force/body tasked solely for the purpose of checking illegal immigration in the state be formed without delay”.

For starters, the RPP suggested that the tribal bodies/student bodies/youth bodies of the foothill areas of Nagaland may take the lead in forming the foothill area youth force.

The RPP then said, “Our society is deeply divided due to various contentious issues”. However, the issue of illegal immigration is an existential threat for “our people”, it also said. “Unity is the need of the hour in tackling the issue. We appeal to all the patriotic people of the state, especially the tribal youth bodies, to consider our humble opinion with an open mind” it added. (NNN)
