AGARTALA, Nov 30: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has strongly condemned a recent attack on a Shyamoli Paribahan bus travelling from Agartala to Kolkata. The incident occurred on the Bishwa Road in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh, causing panic among Indian passengers on board.
Providing details of the incident, minister Chowdhury wrote on Facebook, “A Shyamoli Paribahan bus, carrying Indian passengers, was deliberately targeted on Bishwa Road. A truck transporting goods collided with the bus, seemingly to cause an accident. Simultaneously, an auto-rickshaw abruptly came in front of the bus, resulting in another collision. Following this, local residents gathered around the scene and began threatening the passengers. They shouted anti-India slogans, made provocative remarks, and even issued threats to the lives of the passengers. This left the travellers deeply shaken and fearful.”
Expressing his concern, Chowdhury strongly criticised the incident and urged the Bangladeshi authorities to act swiftly. “I condemn this attack in the strongest terms and call upon the administration of Bangladesh to take immediate measures to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals travelling in their country,” he said.
The minister’s statement underscores the growing concern for the safety of cross-border travellers and the need for prompt action to prevent such incidents in the future.
