The body submitted a memorandum to Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, pressing for the immediate replacement of the current director.

In its memorandum, TSF asserted that the department, which is exclusively responsible for the welfare and development of the state’s indigenous communities, should be led by someone who intrinsically understands the cultural, social, and developmental needs of the tribal populace.

“It is our firm conviction that there are several competent and experienced tribal officers within the state cadre who possess the necessary administrative skills and grassroots knowledge to lead the department more effectively,” the TSF stated. “Appointing a deserving tribal officer would not only improve the department’s efficiency but also inspire aspiring tribal civil servants.”

The student body emphasized that such an appointment would reflect the government’s commitment to meaningful tribal empowerment and ensure better representation of indigenous communities in key administrative roles.

“We hope our concerns will be given due consideration and that appropriate action will be taken without delay,” the memorandum added.
