Tripura’s first tea auction centre gets nod by NITI Aayog

Itanagar, Jan 16: The tea industry in Tripura is set to receive a substantial upliftment as NITI Aayog has approved the establishment of the first-ever Tea Auction Centre in the state.

This was disclosed during the initial review meeting of the newly-launched Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT), led by Chief Minister Manik Saha. The Chief Minister has directed officials to set up the Tea Auction Centre at Durgabari Tea Estate in Bamutia, West Tripura District.

The meeting saw a review of projects aimed at the state’s overall development and public welfare, with officials directed to ensure timely completion while upholding quality. Major projects such as the National Highway, Agartala to Airport road, and the infrastructure development of various cultural and educational institutions were discussed.

The meeting revealed that a NITI Aayog delegation had recently visited the state under the TIFT initiative, during which the tea auction center was approved. The Chief Minister has advised authorities to begin the necessary initiatives for the tea auction center’s establishment in Durgabari.

The meeting also involved detailed discussions about the current status, progress, and challenges of the development projects by the concerned department’s secretaries and officers.
