Truck driver apprehended with suspected ganja near Assam-Tripura border

GUWAHATI, Nov 26: In an operation conducted by the police team at the Churaibari Police Watch
Post near the Assam-Tripura border, a truck driver was apprehended with a substantial quantity of
suspected ganja. The incident took place around 11 am on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Abdul Waheed, was driving an empty container truck with registration
number AS01NC-5795. The interception occurred near the Churaibari checkpost. Upon thorough
inspection, law enforcement officials discovered ten packets containing a total of 10.6 kilograms of
ganja concealed within the vehicle.
Pranab Milli, the in-charge of the Churaibari Police Watch Post, estimated the street value of the
seized contraband to be around two lakh rupees. Abdul Waheed, a resident of Gumra in the Cachar
district, was promptly arrested by the Bazarichara police.
A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances
(NDPS) Act. Legal proceedings will follow.
