Two day seminar on tribal politics held

DIPHU, June 21: A two day national seminar on ‘Tribal politics in North East India, Issues, Challenges and Emerging Trends’ organised by the Department of Political Science, Department of History and IQAC of Thong Nokbe College, Dokmoka in collaboration with South East Assam Regional Political Science Association (SEARPSA) was successfully concluded at Thong Nokbe College, Dokmoka on June 20. The seminar was sponsored by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).

Former Head of Department of Political Science, North Bengal University Prof. Ranjita Chakraborty inaugurated the seminar on June 19.

Prof Nani Bath, former Head of the Department of Political Science of Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh and presently the director of the College Development Council delivered the keynote address of the seminar. Around 50 research papers from different parts of the country, including from the Jawaharlal Nehru University and Raiganj University, West Bengal were presented during the two day intense deliberations.

During the inaugural function on June 19 a book titled ‘Tribal Politics in North East India, Issues, Challenges and Emerging Trends’ containing the selected research papers was released by Prof Ranjita Chakraborty. The book is edited by Dr Lutfur Rahman Choudhury, HOD, Political Science, Thong Nokbe College and Dr. Dhanjoy Narzary, Principal, Thong Nokbe College.
