Two vehicle lifters arrested, six including two cars recovered

IMPHAL, Dec 27 (NNN): Manipur Police have arrested two vehicle lifters and recovered six stolen vehicles including two cars, an official source said on Tuesday.
A team of Thoubal district police commandos arrested the two vehicle lifters during a series of raids on the evening of Sunday last.
The arrested persons were identified as Md Islao Rahaman (23) of Lilong Dam Mamang and Md Sahid Ali alias Mamei alias Ashif (20) of Lilong Dam Makha, the police also said.
Six stolen vehicles recovered were one Honda Dio, three TVS NTORQ bikes, and two Maruti Alto Lxi cars. The vehicles were recovered from the house of Imtiyas alias Apik of Lilong Makha Leikai during a raid by the police commandos, the police further said.
The police commandos conducted the search operation based on specific information that Imtiyas and other gang members kept the stolen vehicles concealed at his house at Lilong Mayai Leikai.
The team also conducted a massive search operation to arrest Imtiyas and his gang members based on the information that they were planning to steal some vehicles from the MBC Church area in Imphal West on Christmas Day.
However, the team could manage to detain two members of the gang around 7.30 pm on Sunday, the police said.
The arrested persons and seized items were handed over to Lilong police station of Thoubal district after a case was registered against them for necessary legal action, the police added.
