AGARTALA: The earlier attack on the BJP party office in Khumulwng, Dukmali, in the TTAADC remains unresolved, with officials not making any arrest till date.
Two days back, unidentified miscreants attacked and robbed the office, escalating political tensions and triggering a blame game among top parties in the state.
Following the incident, the BJP accused the Tipra Motha party of the attack, while Tipra Motha blamed the CPI(M).
The verbal war has also widened the political divide, further fueling the unrest in the region. With elections on the horizon, most residents believe that these acts of vandalism are politically motivated, being strategically used by political parties to sway public opinion.
Locals within the TTAADC headquarters have been upset over the rising cycle of political violence. Some think that BJP and Tipra Motha are consciously engaging in these confrontations in order to affect voters prior to the coming ADC elections.
There is also growing suspicion that Tipra Motha’s leader, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, could be staging these incidents to gain sympathy and tribal votes. While others think BJP and Tipra Motha have a secret alliance but engage in such confrontations only to create political drama.
The CPI(M) has indirectly reacted to the incident in its online media, quoting Minister Ratan Nath’s statement, which described the attack as a “consequence of reactions.”
But even as political brouhaha broke out, BJP and Tipra Motha have officially not said anything about the BJP office being destroyed at Khumulwng.
The prevailing unrest has gone on to impact administrative functioning in Khumulwng, as there are fears over law and order in the TTAADC headquarters. As tensions continue to rise, citizens await decisive action from the authorities to restore stability and prevent further politically driven incidents.
