NAGAON, Dec 5: In the last quarterfinal match of the ongoing 76th Independence Day Cup Football Tournament, organised by the Nagaon Sports Association, Anushilanee, Kolkata, defeated Inter North East Football Club, Morigaon, with 3-0, entering to the semifinals.
The match, played at the Nurul Amin Stadium, saw both teams create scoring opportunities in the first half, but the score remained 0-0 till the halftime. After the break, Anushilanee dominated the game, scoring four goals through Indrajit Mondal (63rd minute), Jyoti Barman (65th minute), and Narayan Roy (80th minute).
The win ensured Anushilanee’s entry into the semifinals, where they will face Oil India Football Club. The match will be played on Friday.
Before the match, Tapan Kumar Das, secretary of the Nagaon Sports Association, introduced guests duo Ram Chiari Saikia, former president of the Guwahati High Court Bar Association, and former footballer Rup Ram Bhuyan to the players of both teams and match referee here.
