Guwahati, Feb 28: The Archery Association of Assam is set to host the Khelo India – NTPC North East Zone Open Archery Tournament from February 28 to March 2, 2025, here. This event will bring together some of the best archery talent from across the North East, serving as a vital step in promoting the sport and fostering young athletes in the region.
As part of the Khelo India initiative, the tournament aims to provide archers with a platform to showcase their skills, compete at a high level, and nurture their passion for the sport. Organised by the Archery Association of Assam, the competition will feature both Recurve** and Compound categories, with top athletes competing for the coveted titles.
The tournament is expected to draw hundreds of participants from the eight North Eastern states, with the goal of identifying and developing future archers who could represent India at national and international levels. The Khelo India programme, dedicated to strengthening grassroots sports, sees this event as a crucial opportunity to uplift the archery community in the region.
The competition will feature individual events in both Recurve and Compound categories, allowing archers to gain experience at a national and regional level. With the backing of Khelo India and NTPC, the tournament is set to act as a catalyst for the sport’s growth in the North East.
The prize structure for the tournament includes Rs 20,000 for the first prize, Rs 15,000 for the second prize, Rs 10,000 for the third prize, and Rs 5,000 for the fourth prize.
