New Delhi, March 24: Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa praised Riyan Parag for his impressive batting during Rajasthan Royals’ first match against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024 in Jaipur on March 24th.
Uthappa credited Parag for demonstrating his skills with the bat rather than just talking about them. Parag, batting at No. 4, formed a crucial partnership with RR captain Sanju Samson, helping their team set a challenging target of 194 runs for LSG.
Despite RR’s opening pair, Jos Butler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, failing early on, the partnership between Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag anchored the RR innings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, resulting in a crucial 93-run partnership.
Uthappa lauded Parag for his important innings against LSG, appreciating his change in approach in the IPL. Uthappa further credited Parag’s inspiration to his teammates at Rajasthan Royals, particularly Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Parag has shown exceptional form in domestic cricket, scoring 410 runs in his last five matches for Assam, including innings of 116 and 155 runs against Kerala and Chhattisgarh respectively. However, his performance in the last two IPL seasons was below par, making his strong start in IPL 2024 especially significant.
