GUWHATI, Nov 1: Assam’s youngster batter Riyan Parag on Tuesday became the first batter in T20 history to stroke seven consecutive fifties in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy played here at IS Bindra cricket stadium, PCA, Mohali.
With this achievement, Parag outshone cricket legends such as David Warner, Virender Sehwag, Jos Buttler, Kamran Akmal, and Hamilton Masakadza by scoring his sixth consecutive fifty. His outstanding performance has elevated his chances of representing India in the upcoming IND vs AUS T20 series.
During the chase of a 139-run target against Bengal, Assam effortlessly clinched victory with eight wickets in hand and 13 balls to spare. Parag’s half-century was complemented by Bishal Roy’s unbeaten 45 runs. Not limited to his batting prowess, Parag also proved his mettle with the ball, taking two crucial wickets and conceding only 23 runs, disrupting Bengal’s momentum in a pivotal match of the SMAT tournament.
