Guwahati, April 28: Star Indian sprinter Hima Das is preparing for her return to competitive athletics at the Indian Grand Prix 1 in Bengaluru, following approval from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), according to reports.
A NADA disciplinary panel gave her the go-ahead after a hearing last month. The 24-year-old was provisionally suspended by NADA last year due to three whereabouts failures within a year.
Hima’s name is reportedly listed in the women’s 200m race entry for the upcoming event. She last participated in a race during the Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru in April last year, where she won a gold medal.
However, the NADA disciplinary panel has not disclosed details surrounding Hima’s clearance, leading to speculation about the nature of her violations and the subsequent ruling. Multiple whereabouts failures within a year can lead to a ban of up to two years, as per World Anti-Doping Agency rules.
