SHILLONG, July 18 (NNN): Sadon K Blah, representative of the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), has expressed optimism about the ongoing tripartite peace talks between the government and the outfit. Blah, who is also the president of the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), stated that the peace talks are heading in the right direction without any negativity.

Speaking to reporters at an event commemorating U Tirot Sing Syiem’s death anniversary, Blah revealed that multiple meetings have taken place between the Centre, State, and members of the HNLC over the past year. He highlighted that around 6-7 official and unofficial rounds of meetings have been held, focusing on resolving technical issues and moving the peace process forward.
Blah emphasized that once the peace process is on the right track, there is no turning back. He mentioned that discussions have also centered around the demand for amnesty, and while further clarification is pending, progress is being made with the involvement of the Home Ministry and both governments.
Looking ahead, Blah expressed hope that the next round of peace talks would be scheduled soon. He commended AK Mishra, a representative of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), for his dedication despite a busy schedule. Blah also conveyed his confidence that while the entire process may not be concluded this year, significant progress in the peace talks can be expected.
The positive outlook presented by the representative of the HNLC highlights the commitment and efforts being made to achieve a peaceful resolution. The ongoing discussions signify a promising step towards lasting peace and stability in the region.
