District level SHG credit camp promotes financial inclusion in Morigaon

MORIGAON, July 26: A district level Self-Help Group (SHG) credit camp was successfully organised on Wednesday at Morigaon District Library, with the aim of ensuring financial inclusion for SHG members through bank credit linkage. The event was jointly organised by the District Mission Management Unit of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM), Morigaon, and Assam Gramin Vikash Bank Regional Office, Guwahati.

The credit camp was inaugurated by Krishna Baruah, State mission director, ASRLM, in the presence of district commissioner Devashis Sarma, Khitish Ch Pegu, CEO of Zilla Parishad, Morigaon, Pritam Kashyap, project manager of ASRLM, regional manager of AGVB, district development director of NABARD, Morigaon, chief district manager of RSETI, Morigaon’s director, Dhiraj Nath, district project manager of ASRLM, Morigaon, and other district and block officers of ASRLM.

During the camp, the CEO of MZP urged all SHG members to actively contribute to the rural economy of Morigaon district by making proper use of bank loans. Emphasising sustainable utilisation of funds, the district commissioner urged the SHGs to develop sound plans for the long-term utilization of bank loans, enabling them to build valuable resources for their benefit.

The State mission director delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the significance of women empowerment through SHG movements. He applauded the contributions of SHGs in social and economic platforms, acknowledging their role in bringing about positive changes in livelihoods and social development initiatives.

The credit camp proved to be a crucial step towards empowering SHG members by providing them access to financial resources, fostering growth, and enabling them to actively participate in the socio-economic development of the region.
