DIPHU, May 5: The Diphu Parish of Catholic Church is celebrating its Golden Jubilee with a three day religious programme from May 6 to 8, with the theme ‘Thy kingdom come’. The Diphu Parish was established in 1971.
The celebration is organised by Diphu Parish Council, Diphu; Diphu Parish Katholic Nimarli Asong; Diphu Parish Karbi Katholic Sarmar Asong (DPKKSA) and Catholic Youth Association (CYA). The celebration will be held at the Cathedral parish ground here.
Final preparation is on for the D-day tomorrow. The main pandal in front of the Cathedral of the Risen Lord has been decorated with lights, flowers and sitting arrangements are made. The Parish men and women and youth are busy working with the decoration and arrangements.
Detailing the events of programmes, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), of Diphu Parish Council, Kareng Teronpi informed that on the inaugural day the celebration will kick off at 7 am with the blessing of the pandal by the Parish Priest of Diphu, Rev. Fr. Thomas Maripurath; releasing of balloons by Robert Teron and releasing of doves by Fr. Zacharias Mundekathara and Vicar General of Diphu Diocese, Fr. John Timung to be followed with Holy Mass to be officiated by Fr. Zacharias Mundekathara.
There are a lot of activities for the day like felicitating the founders of Diphu church, interactive session, testimonial speeches and history of Diphu parish, she informed.
The PRO also informed that on May 8, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang has been invited as the chief guest. The Holy mass will be offered by Bishop of Diphu Diocese, Rev. Paul Mattekatt. Earlier the bishop will also bless and inaugurate the jubilee memorial and the office of DPKKSA.
