Athabari branch students’ union submits letter to Demow circle officer

DEMOW, May 5: The leaders of the Athabari branch students’ union had submitted a letter to Demow circle officers on behalf of Kharahat people on Wednesday. In the letter, they stated that the Demow municipality had planned to prepare vermicompost fertiliser and for which garbage were collected from various places of greater Demow and were stored near Kharahat tea estate Deoriting Ghat. As per the plan, the production of the vermicompost fertiliser has not happened and the garbage stored near the tea estate is creating a serious problem for the Kharahat people. Moreover, scientific method was not used while storing the garbage due to which the people of the area are facing problems. The Athabari branch students’ union appealed to Demow Municipal to clean the place and make the area free from pollution. On the other hand, the people of Kharahat also submitted a letter to the Demow circle officer on Wednesday regarding the same problem. A copy of the letter was sent to the chief executive officer of Demow Municipal Board and chairman of Demow Municipal Board.
