BISWANATH CHARIALI, May 8: Department of Economics, in collaboration with Institutions Innovation Council, Biswanath College, organised a workshop on Entrepreneurship Development on Saturday. Dr Chinta Mani Sharma, principal, Biswanath College, inaugurated the workshop. In his inaugural speech, Dr Sharma stated the importance of self-employment and entrepreneurship development in the present day context. Bhargav Bhagawati, a renowned entrepreneur of the region took part as the resource person in this event. Starting with the concept of entrepreneur, Bhagawati stated about the various qualities that are required to become an entrepreneur. He also shared his success story as an entrepreneur with the audiences. Citing the example of Pabhoi Fish Firm, Bhagawati explained the various methods of fish firming and various aspects like revenue generation, cost and profit calculation related with fish firming. He also took part in an interactive session with the teachers and students and answered their queries. The programme was anchored by Ashomi Kalita, assistant professor of the department of Economics and attended by Dr Karabi Gogoi, HoD, Economics; Deepjyoti Nath, president, IIC; Dr Nabanita Sharma, Manashjyoti Das, Pragati Kanu and the students of Economics department and other departments of the College.
