Pranjal Changmai takes over as managing director of BCPL

DIBRUGARH, Oct 9: Pranjal Changmai has officially assumed the role of Managing Director at Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) in Dibrugarh. Changmai, a native of Dibrugarh, Assam, is the son of Late Guna Kanta Changmai and Sabitri Changmai. He completed his schooling at Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Dibrugarh, and passed the HSLC examination in 1985. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati, in 1992.

Changmai began his career as a Management Trainee at Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited Namrup, Assam, in 1993. He later worked at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Hazira, Gujarat, from 1996 to 2011, where he held the position of General Manager. During his time at RIL, he was in charge of the Polyethylene unit and was involved in commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting.

He joined BCPL as Chief Manager on July 5, 2011, and played a crucial role in project execution, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities of the plants. As General Manager (Operations), he led the BCPL team in achieving critical milestones in commissioning various plants and achieving full capacity utilization with production of quality products. Under his leadership, the company earned profits starting from the financial year 2018-19.

Changmai also served in various roles at BCPL, including General Manager (Operation-In-Charge), where he oversaw departments like Technical Services, Environment, Sourcing & Logistics, Business Development, and Project Execution. He contributed to improving safety, reliability, and sustainable growth strategies for the company.
