Karbi community mourns the loss of renowned musician Daniel Ingti

DIPHU, Nov 3: The mortal remains of late Daniel Ingti, a revered figure in the Karbi community, were laid to rest at the cemetery of Bible Baptist Church (BBC) in Taralangso on Friday.

Ingti, a former Chairman of Diphu Town Committee, now Diphu Municipal Board (DMB), passed away suddenly due to a pressure stroke at 7 pm on November 1st.

Late Ingti was not only known for his musical talents as a popular Karbi folk fusion musician and singer but also for his dedicated social work. He had made significant contributions to the community, earning the respect and admiration of many. Additionally, Ingti held the esteemed position of the general secretary of ST Morcha, BJP, East Karbi Anglong District Committee.

The funeral service started from 9 am at Ingti’s residence and the life history of late Ingti was read out by one of the relatives of late Ingti.

During the funeral service, condolence messages were shared by many people. General secretary, Karbi Anglong Baptist Convention, Rev. Kamson Rongphar in his condolence message recalled that he and late Ingti had participated in a gospel concert. He has close relations with late Ingti. Rongphar termed late Ingti as a person who always wanting to do something in gospel songs.

Raj Laxmi Bora, a folk singer herself and working together with late Ingti in Karbi folk fusion expressing her condolences said, “Late Ingti is very close to me and is like a brother to me. He had guided me and was so helpful to me. When I got the news of Ingti’s demise I could not believe it. I am feeling so painful for the loss of my brother Ingti.”

May his soul rest in eternal peace, Bora added.

Later, Keshop Timung in his condolence message said he and late Ingti had worked together in BJP, adding, “A good person and a friend of mine have been lost and I pray for his eternal peace.”

Phu Ningding (Warklung) who is one of the close associates with late Ingti in the field of music expressing his condolences said that a person like Ingti cannot be replaced by another person.

“Late Ingti is a true musician. He had worked genuinely in reviving the Karbi folk music and songs. He is so close to me that I cannot take it that he has gone away from us. His legacy will always be cherished,” Phu Ningding added.

Gautom Ingti on behalf of Ruru Rara Entertainment team expressing his condolences said late Ingti is a true friend, companion and a family member.

“Person like Ingti is so helpful, always joyful and jolly with everyone. Late Ingti is one of the members of Ruru Rara Entertainment. He has so much ideas and talent in any matters that is very rare to find in other people. We cannot accept that our brother and friend Daniel Ingti has left us,” Ingti said.

Pastor, BBC, Rev. Jones Terang in his message said death waits for no one as when time comes one has to leave this world, adding, “Everyone should be prepared to face the Lord when the time comes for him/her to leave this world”.

The final journey of late Ingti started from his residence, where his mortal remains were taken in a Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Transport funeral van. His family members, well wishers and party members followed behind him in procession. His mortal remains were stopped at Diphu Municipal Board office, where the chairman, Rah Kro including Ward Commissioners and office staff offered him last tribute. From here he was taken to the BBC as late Ingti was a member of the church. It then proceeded to Taralangso where members of Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) were waiting.

The KCS members paid him last respect and from Taralangso the journey reached BJP, EKADC office near ARTC first gate, where party leaders and members paid him last respect. From here the procession reached BBC cemetery, Taranglangso, where the mortal remains of late Ingti were laid to final resting.

As a mark of respect Diphu market remained closed from morning 6 pm to 12 noon.
