IMPHAL, Nov 25: The proposed agitation put forth by the
Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of Z
Asongbou and Amangliu Pamai in a tragic accident which
occurred on November 15, 2023, has been deferred for a
time being as per the request of the government and the
present prevailing law and order situation in the state.
The JAC gave an ultimatum to the chief minister of
Manipur demanding immediate arrest of the truck
owner Bishwajit Dey of Kamrup, Assam; ex-gratia to the
demise family; appointment of a primary teacher to one
of the two sons of the deceased against the post of
Amangliu TADC under die-in-harness scheme;
reimbursement of the medical expenses incurred by the
injuries of all the victim’s family members and to
compensate the damaged vehicle.
The said JAC was formed due to the tragic accident that
occurred at Laikot village along NH-2 under Sapormeina
police station of Kangpokpi district where a Bolero SUV
coming from Dimapur side towards Imphal was hit by
speeding the empty goods carrier truck coming from
Imphal.
